TINSUKIA: In a remarkable effort to inspire young minds, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles conducted a series of science lectures at Rashtrabhasha ME School, Jagun, and Adarsha Hindi Vidyalaya, Bargolai, in Tinsukia district on the occasion of National Science Day. Over 260 students and 20 teachers actively participated, making it an enriching and interactive experience.
The session, led by the Company Commanders, highlighted the significance of science in daily life and celebrated the contributions of Indian scientists. A vibrant Q&A session followed, where students showcased their curiosity and critical thinking through insightful questions. To further encourage scientific exploration, students were introduced to real-world applications of science and technology, emphasizing its role in defence, innovation, and national development. The interactive discussions aimed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
This initiative by the Spear Corps Warriors reaffirms their commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting education as a pillar of national progress. The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation from students and teachers, acknowledging the Army’s role in fostering scientific temperament, curiosity, and innovation.
Sadiya College also celebrated National Science Day under the aegis of Extension Activity Cell, Sadiya College in collaboration with Assam Science Society, Sadiya Branch. The event began with a plantation programme in the college campus followed by the inauguration of Poster Presentation Competition by Dr Bhupen Chutia, Principal of Sadiya College, in the presence of Dr Jai Dayal Mali, Secretary, Assam Science Society, Sadiya Branch, and other faculty members of Sadiya College.
The departments of the science stream also inaugurated their respective wall magazines. Two talks on ‘Science in Everyday Life’ and ‘Career Prospects in Science’ were delivered by Assistant Professors of the college Dr Sudarshan Gogoi and Dr Dipjyoti Kalita respectively, followed by an open quiz. Several schools from Sadiya participated in the programme.
