New Executive Body of BDTA formed in Kokrajhar to strengthen Bodo language and culture

A general meeting of the Bodo Department Teachers’ Association (BDTA) was held on Saturday at Girls’ College, Kokrajhar to form a new committee of the Bodo Department Teachers’ Association.

KOKRAJHAR: A general meeting of the Bodo Department Teachers’ Association (BDTA) was held on Saturday at Girls’ College, Kokrajhar to form a new committee of the Bodo Department Teachers’ Association.

According to reports, the BDTA, formed for the upliftment of Bodo language, literature, culture, and students of Bodo departments, constituted a new committee in the meeting. The session was chaired by former BDTA President Dr Motichand Daimary. Professors from various colleges across the region with Bodo departments in them participated in the event. The session included discussions focusing on the development of the Bodo language, literature, culture, and the academic progress of Bodo department students.

Following deliberations, the new committee for the term 2025–2027 was formed with Dr Rupanath Wary, Bongaigaon College, as President. The vice-presidents are Dr Mallika Basumatary, Bengtol College, Dr Pranab Jyoti Narzary, Guwahati Pandu College, and Dr Rujab Mushahary, Rangia College, while Prof Bindu Basumatary of Janata College, Serfanguri, became Secretary along with assistant secretaries Dr Daimalu Bargayary, Barama College, Bwihwithi Bargayary, Khoirabari College, and Prof Mridul Basumatary, Gyanpith Degree College, Mushalpur. Dr Laheram Mushahary of Girls College, Kokrajhar, became the Treasurer while the cultural secretaries included Chittaranjan Mushahary of Barama College and Natan Basumatary of GKG College of Tipkai.

On the other hand, the editorial board includes Chief Editor Dr Dwithun Boro of Bongaigaon College. The appointed editors are Kumud Narzary of UN Brahma College, Kajalgaon, Bijon Boro of Chaiduar College, Ghopur, Dr Robiram Narzary, Guwahati Pandu College, Dr Jaydev Boro, North Kamrup College, and Anjali Narzary, GLG College. 

The meeting unanimously nominated the Advisory Board Members, including Dr Bhoumik Chandra Boro, Bodoland University, Dr Motison Daimary, BB Kishan College, Dr Mihir Kumar Brahma, Janata College, Dr Gwgwm Brahma Kachari, Bijni College, Dr Tulan Mushahary, LOKD College, and Dr Nareswar Narzary, Udalguri College.

The newly-formed BDTA committee aims to further strengthen the Bodo language, culture, and education through collaborative academic and cultural initiatives.
