North Lakhimpur regional AASU holds interactive session on New Year expectations

LAKHIMPUR: "The year 2020 will be memorable in the history of the world for the breaking out of COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic situation, no doubt, affected the human civilization in every field in the year. But the situation taught every individual of the society to measure their capabilities of adjusting themselves in adverse situation. It is the great, positive achievement of the year against all negativities," stated Padma Shri Dr. Uddhav Kumar Bhorali while taking part in a cordial interactive programme convened by the North Lakhimpur regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Wednesday.

Like the previous years, the North Lakhimpur regional AASU organized the interactive programme on the day in order to look back to the achievements and non-achievements, the success and failures, the profits and losses, that the year 2020 marked, so that the upcoming New Year 2021 could be welcomed with great expectations and positive attitudes. The programme was organized at the Lakhimpur Girls' College premises in association with the AASU unit of the college under the management of North Lakhimpur regional AASU president Pranjit Gogoi and general secretary Punamjyoti Buragohain. Dr. Uddhav Kumar Bhorali, while expressing his thoughts and feelings in the programme, expected hygienic environment, society with civic senses and a political environment with the protection of fundamental rights in upcoming 2021.

In the programme, Lakhimpur Girls' College principal Dr. Surajit Bhuyan expressed his views on the educational scenario in 2020.

"In 2020, we had to face with big deficit and challenges in educational field. At present, we have to compromise a lot to maintain the deficit for everyone's betterment. Under such circumstances, I hope that these compromises would not be a trend in future. I also hope that our students would be hardworking in the upcoming year to mould their bright future by adjusting their deficit of the year," Dr. Surajit Bhuyan stated.

In addition to them academician-writer Sajjad Hussain, professor Tilak Deka, writer Prashanta Kumar Nath, AASU State executive member Dhanmoni Dutta and many other prominent figures of North Lakhimpur took part in the programme highlighting the political, economic, literary, social scenarios of 2020 and expressing their views to build a beautiful Lakhimpur in 2021. All of the speakers laid stress on the permanent solution of the flood and erosion problem, academic, industrial, agricultural, medical, communicative, technological infrastructure development in the district as well as across the State in 2021.

In the same programme, North Lakhimpur regional AASU accorded warm felicitation to Raj Jyoti Borah, Debananda Nath, Manoj Kumar Dutta, Nayan Moni Dutta and Pranjil Gogoi, the five meritorious youths of Lakhimpur, who have cleared the Combined Competitive Exams of 2018 conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), with flying colours. Expressing their feelings, after being felicitated, they pledged to serve the State and the native people with devotion, dedication and conviction with innovative policies as administrative officers.
