KOKRAJHAR: As the BTC election is coming near, political parties are running from one corner to another to garner public support and joining ceremonies are becoming a common view. On Tuesday, there was a grand joining programme of the UPPL at Khoirabari in Udalguri where over 1000 new members from different parties and organizations, including the ex-president of Udalguri district committee, ABSU joined the UPPL. The CEM of BTR and UPPL President Pramod Boro welcomed the new members with the party scarf.

Talking to mediapersons, Boro said that the UPPL was receiving tremendous public response and trust to carry forward the accelerated development of the region. On the coming together of BPF and GSP led by ex-MP Naba Kr Sarania, UPPL President Pramod Boro said that there was nothing to worry about their convergence as both the parties are sinking ships and it was not easy to bring them back. He said that the people have already lost faith in them for their failure to deliver their commitment. The UPPL is gaining trust from the people to work for equal development and justice to all, he said, adding that they will work with collective responsibility to implement all the clauses of BTR Accord, sustain peace and comprehensive development of the region. He added that the people will support the UPPL to fulfil their agenda of welfare of diverse communities.

On the allocation of party tickets to aspiring candidates, Boro said that it was only BPF President Hagrama Mohilary who collected applications for party tickets but the UPPL will not do that. He said that they will settle everything in accordance with the party principle and discipline in appropriate time. He also said that there had been no formal discussion with the BJP about the seat sharing and fielding of its own candidates.
