BOKAKHAT: Nomrata Bora (25 years), daughter of Ramen Kumar Bora, a teacher from Dhodang village in Numaligarh under Bokakhat sub-division, tragically died in a road accident near Nongpoh while travelling from Shillong to Guwahati in the early hours of Wednesday.
She had recently completed her law degree in Guwahati and had started practicing at the High Court, while also preparing for a special position in legal services. She was travelling towards Guwahati in a Hyundai Alcazar vehicle bearing registration number AS01EV9578, along with five others.
According to the report from Nongpoh Police Station, at 4:44 AM on Wednesday, their vehicle collided with an unidentified truck near Changbangla in Ri Bhoi district. All the other occupants were injured in the accident. Tragically, Nomrata sustained serious head injuries and succumbed to them on the spot.
A brilliant student, Nomrata had obtained a BEd degree before pursuing her law studies. The unfortunate news has deeply saddened not only her native village but also all the communities of Komargaon and Numaligarh.
It is noteworthy that Nomrata was living in a rented flat in Rukmininagar, Guwahati with two of her close friends. Reportedly, both of them were at the flat last night, while Nomrata left the flat around midnight. The room was found unlocked. It remains unclear where she went and why she left at night, and police are currently investigating these questions.
Nomrata’s family expressed strong doubts regarding her death. It has been revealed that she spoke to her family on the phone at around 11 PM on Tuesday night. The family is now demanding a high-level investigation into the entire incident.
