Retired teacher and a resident of Deka Sundar in Jamugurihat, Bharati Bhattacharya breathed her last on April 10 due old-age related ailments at her own residence. She was 81. She was the daughter of freedom fighter Rajkrishna Bhattacharya who was closely associated with many socio-cultural organizations of Jamugurihat. Her demise was widely mourned in Jamugurihat area.
