Oil pilferage in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: The security personnel of Oil India Limited (OIL) based on specific information confiscated an oil tanker bearing no AS 09 3087 at Hukanpukuri TE near Makum on NH-37 in Tinsukia district when the thieves were pilfering crude oil from an underground pipeline after creating a hole at OIL's HNE point on Friday night.

According to information, taking advantage of night curfew, the miscreants dug a pit over a pipeline that carries crude from Barekuri OCS. As the security personnel approached the area, the thieves along with driver of the tanker fled under cover of darkness.
