MANGALDAI: “The aim of BJP is to make the Panchayati Raj more transparent and more active with a zero-tolerance towards corruption and we consider Panchayat election not less important than assembly or parliamentary election. We are committed to ensure a free and fair peaceful Panchayat election with more and more participation of the electorates,” said State BJP President and Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia. He was addressing a press meet at the District BJP office.  He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for holding 26 election rallies directly interacting with over 5 lakhs electorates of the state. Thanking former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for taking part in a number of rallies, State BJP President Saikia also expressed his gratitude to the presidents, secretaries, and workers of NDA allied parties.

“For us, the rural people, development at grassroot level, national security, and inclusive growth are important, not Gaurav Gogoi.  The issue of Gaurav Gogoi has no connection with the Panchayat elections. Gogoi should respond as questions have been raised about whether he went to Pakistan or not,” commented State BJP President Dilip Saikia while addressing the press meet. Expressing heartfelt thanks to the villagers for their overwhelming support to the BJP he urged everyone to cast 100% votes on May 7 to celebrate this festival of democracy. Prominent BJP leaders Rekha Rani Das Boro, former legislator Guru Jyoti Das and District BJP President Makunda Deka also attended the press meet.

Earlier, Dilip Saikia addressed three largely attended election rallies at Sipajhar, Mangaldai and Dalgaon LAC. Significantly in the election rally at Besimari in Dalgaon LAC known as the stronghold of the religious minority community, a large number of the minority community attended the rally.
