GOLAGHAT: For the first time in Assam, ‘Park Library’ culture has been jointly introduced by Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Assam State and All & Sundry, a non profit organisation of Golaghat on Monday at Sankardev Udyan of Golaghat. The Vice Chairman of Golaghat Municipal Board Simanta Bora inaugurated the park library in presence of Asom Gana Parishad’s Golaghat District President Dr. Nripen Boruah; State president of Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Assam State Namita Jallan; founder of All & Sundry NGO Abhishek Singha and other distinguished guests.
In a noble initiative to inculcate the reading habit in students, youngsters and the community at large, the visitors of all ages can come to Sankardev Udyan and read their favourite collection of books free of cost in the fresh open air of the park, a press release stated. Since the library is located within the park, it opens and closes according to the park’s timings. Golaghat Municipal Board has provided the space and the physical infrastructure required for setting up the library. Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Assam State and All & Sundry NGO has developed the space into a creative library space with cupboard, books and attractive posters.
The park library also has English bestsellers and classics, and a host of textbooks for students. Though this library caters to people of all ages it gives more focus to children and students,” said Namita Jallan, Assam State President of Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan.
