SILCHAR: “The party will decide my political future,” stated Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy. The prestigious Silchar Lok Sabha seat has been reserved for the SC community as per the recent delimitation and hence Roy’s political career got a jolt as in the present scenario he has no seat to contest from in the Lok Sabha election scheduled next year.
During the public hearing by the Election Commission on the draft delimitation, Roy vehemently opposed the proposal to de-reserve the Karimganj Lok Sabha seat. However, the delimitation got the approval of the President on August 11.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Roy said, “The Silchar constituency has a good number of winnable and efficient SC candidates and the party will definitely pick the best among them.” Asked about his political future, Dr Roy, who is a famed orthopedic surgeon, said he was an integral part of the BJP. “I will accept whatever decision the party takes because I know the party will decide the best option for me,” Roy said confidently.
