BARPETA: The problem of D voters (dubious or doubtful voters) in Assam will be solved by the Supreme Court and the order of Indian Government,” said Ranjeet Kumar Dass while speaking to the mediapersons on Thursday here at a review meeting of P&RD, Barpeta. He also added that the State Government had ordered the District Commissioner of Barpeta to withdraw the case of non-Muslim D voters in the Tribunal who migrated from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh for the sake of their religion.

There are a total of 94,477 D voters in Assam. Along with Muslims, there are also Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, and Christians. Among these migrated D voters, except the Muslims, all others belonging to the other religions will be reportedly given Indian citizenships. The State Government has already ordered the district commissioners and police administration to take initiatives regarding this.

“This decision will give relief to the people of India,” stated Minister Dass at Barpeta.

He said that the illegal encroachment in forest lands occurred during the tenure of the Congress and that the MLA of Goalpara took people from Baghbar and let them settle in Goalpara forest land. He vehemently blamed the Congress party for the problem of D voters in Assam.
