BOKAKHAT: The deplorable condition of an important rural road in Kuruwabahi under the Bokakhat Legislative Assembly constituency has now become a major cause of suffering for local residents. The road, maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD), connects Chinakan Chariali in Kuruwabahi to National Highway 37 at Kuruwabahi Tini Ali. Large potholes that have developed along the stretch are now posing serious dangers to commuters.

Students, patients, motorcyclists, and e-rickshaw passengers who travel daily on this road are constantly living under the fear of accidents. The pond-like craters scattered across the road have made vehicular movement extremely difficult.

Although there are specific legal regulations restricting the movement of heavy vehicles on rural roads constructed under government rural road schemes, several owners of heavy vehicles have allegedly been violating these rules openly. Local residents have expressed anger, alleging that the unrestricted movement of heavy vehicles in full view of the administration has further worsened the condition of the road day by day.

With the monsoon season approaching, residents of the area are deeply worried about the horrific condition the road may take once heavy rainfall begins.
