KHERONI: The Rastriya Divyang Ekta Sangh (RDES) Trust, in collaboration with the District Administration of West Karbi Anglong, successfully conducted an Aadhaar Enrollment, Free Medical Camp, and Awareness Programme at Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Dikhreng (Kheroni Chariali). The event catered to Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), widows, senior citizens, and members of the third gender community, marking a significant step toward inclusion, empowerment, and equality.

The programme was graced by District Commissioner Saranga Pani Sarma as the chief guest, who also accepted the role of Chief Adviser to RDES. Dipak Chauhan, Chairman of RDES, elaborated on the event’s objectives, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to supporting marginalized communities. The event saw the participation of key RDES office bearers, including Operating Trustee Mongal Sing Phangcho, trustees Mohar Ali, Kenson Roghphar, Dipankar Chauhan, Hemson Kathar, and Sunil Chauhan, along with West Karbi Anglong District President Mohan Sing Kathar, Secretary Manoj Kumar Gour, Dr Rajesh Kumar Chauhan (Lecturer, Thong Nokbe College, Dokmoka), Chhotelal Chauhan (Assistant Professor, Kapili College, Kheroni), and Ramji Chauhan (Vice-Principal, Adarsha Senior Secondary School). Over a hundred specially-abled individuals and community workers attended.

DC Sarma attentively listened to the challenges faced by the community and assured continued support from the administration. He visited a proposed site for RDES’s official office building in Dayangmukh, demonstrating his commitment to its establishment. Additionally, he informed attendees about various government schemes aimed at the welfare and development of specially-abled persons in the district.

The event provided Aadhaar registration and updation services, along with free medical checkups for all participants. Awareness sessions highlighted the rights and welfare schemes available for marginalized groups, with a focus on health consciousness and the importance of proper documentation for specially-abled individuals in the hilly region.

This initiative marks a new chapter in RDES’s mission to foster inclusion, empowerment, and equality for all, particularly in the underserved areas of West Karbi Anglong.
