Dhekiajuli: In a heartwarming moment for Assamese cinema lovers, the star-studded team of the much-acclaimed film “Rudra” made a special appearance at the newly-established Nakshatra Cinema Hall in Dhekiajuli on Saturday. The event turned emotional when fans caught a glimpse of celebrated actor Ravi Sharma, who was visibly moved by the overwhelming love and admiration from the audience.

The appearance of Ravi Sharma, alongside co-stars Nandini Kashyap and Archita Agarwal, was met with thunderous applause. In a touching moment, an elderly woman from the audience came forward to offer heartfelt blessings to the actors, symbolizing the deep bond between Assamese cinema and its people.

Also present at the event was the film’s executive producer Hrishikesh Bhattacharya, who joined the cast in interacting with enthusiastic fans. The management of Nakshatra Cinema Hall and the local film-loving community extended a warm and grand welcome to the team, marking a memorable day for Dhekiajuli’s cultural scene.

Speaking to media representatives, Ravi Sharma passionately appealed to the Assam Government to invest in building more cinema halls across the state. “We are not begging. The government has earned significant revenue from films like “Shri Raghupati” and “Bhaimon Da”. Investing in cinema infrastructure will only benefit the state further,” he asserted.

Highlighting the film’s growing popularity, Sharma shared that “Rudra” has already been dubbed into Bengali and could soon be dubbed into Hindi, depending on audience response. “The houseful shows in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru reflect the film’s wide acceptance, which is a big win for Assamese cinema,” he added.

Addressing the rise of OTT platforms, Sharma commented, “OTT is for those who prefer not to visit theatres. But those who break their savings to buy tickets and support our cinema deserve the best content we can offer.”

He further called on the state to modernize Jyoti Chitraban Studio with advanced infrastructure and professional management, emphasizing that it could serve as a backbone for Assamese filmmakers.

Actresses Nandini Kashyap and Archita Agarwal expressed their gratitude to the audience for embracing “Rudra” with open arms. “We are deeply thankful for the love and support. This connection between artists and the people of Assam is what makes our journey so meaningful,” said Kashyap.

With its growing popularity and message of cultural pride, “Rudra” is fast becoming a symbol of the Assamese film industry’s revival not just as entertainment, but as a movement that demands recognition and infrastructure support from the state.
