HAFLONG: The restoration work in between Wedrengdisa and Daotuhaja portion of Lumding-Badarpur Hills section is going on on a war footing, said Divisional Railway Manager, Lumding on Tuesday.

Divisional Railway Manager J S Lakra while visiting the severely damaged portion in between Wedrengdisa and Daotuhaja, said within 80 km of Lumding-Bardarpur, as many as 60 locations are damaged and 11 locations out of them are critically damaged. The railway has mobilized several machinery, hundreds of workers and officials to restore the rail communication. He said protection measurement would be taken as per expert instruction so that no such damage is caused in future. All officials are working consistently as a team to restore the communication within the targeted time.

Answering queries, Lakra said there would be slight diversion from the original alignment to ensure the durability of the track in this section. He also said that damages caused by incessant rain to the railway communication were unprecedented and not anticipated.

Among the 11 critical locations, the portion between Wedrengdisa and Daotuhaja of Lumding- Badarpur Hills has been worst affected by the torrential rain followed by floods, which has washed away the base of tracks of several meters at three locations.
