BOKAKHAT: In a special initiative for the protection of the one-horned rhinoceros and promotion of tourism, ‘Rhino Friend’ Suhan Mallik launched a roadshow from Kaziranga, carrying the symbol of the one-horned rhino across various states of the country. The roadshow was ceremonially flagged off on Tuesday from Kaziranga.
Before the roadshow began, an inaugural event was held at the Parmananda Lahon auditorium of the forest department located in Kohora, Kaziranga. During the event, the objectives of the roadshow were discussed in the presence of Kaziranga National Park’s Assistant Conservator of Forests and Divisional Forest Officer Bibhuti Ranjan Gogoi, Principal of PM Shri Kaziranga National Park High School Bhuvan Khatiyara, other officials, staff members, and local residents.
Suhan Mallik, who has been actively working for the protection of the one-horned rhinoceros and promotion of Assam’s tourism for a long time, received appreciation and support from both the forest department and the local people for this initiative.
It is noteworthy that this roadshow will travel from Kaziranga to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The roadshow is scheduled to reach Delhi on August 15. Through this journey, the chief ministers of different states, industrialists, and prominent personalities will be invited to visit the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinos, and will also be made aware of rhino conservation.
According to Suhan Mallik, the roadshow aims to promote rhino conservation and increase tourist footfall. The campaign will cover 14 states, including 8 metro cities and 60 towns across the country. Suhan Mallik also mentioned that the organization Nature Wings Private Limited is extending support for this roadshow.
