LAKHIMPUR: As relief to those poor families who have no ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 5 kg rice per member of each such family has been distributed under Dhakuakhana subdivision from Monday. The programme was formally inaugurated by State P&RD Minister and local MLA Naba Kumar Doley and Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah. The minister expressed his concern over the death of hundreds of pigs due to African swine fever, affecting the financial position of the pig rearers. On the other hand, MP Pradan Baruah appealed to all to strictly adhere to the lockdown advisories during the third phase too, like the previous two phases. Dhakuakhana SDO (Civil) Arindam Baruah, AC Kulbhusan Pegu and other administrative officers under the subdivision were also present in the programme.
