DOOMDOOMA: Two vegetable vendors died on the spot and the three others were seriously injured, when the Magic van bearing No.AS23CC8666, they were travelling, was hit by another Bolero pick up vehicle (No.AS23CC7848) from behind on National Highway (NH) No. 37 at Longsoal, near here, on Sunday around 7.40pm. According to reports received here lately, the two deceased women have been identified as Aruna Gogoi, wife of Diganta Gogoi of Na Torani village and Swarnalata Borgohain, wife of Kimanta Borgohain of the same village under Chapakhowa, Sadiya Police Station (PS). On the other hand, the three seriously injured persons are Anita Gogoi, wife of Kumud Gogoi of Borpukhuri village and Premonti Gogoi, wife of Sukhen Gogoi of 7th Mile and Biren Konwar, son of Nila Kanta Konwar of Na Torani village, all under Chapakhowa, Sadiya PS.
The magic van was on the way to Sadiya from Tinsukia carrying vegetables and the ill-fated passengers, who came to Tinsukia to sell their vegetables on the way side weekly markets. On receiving reports, the Doomdooma Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Doomdooma 30 Bedded FRU first where they were referred to Tinsukia Civil Hospital while the dead persons were sent to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. The police apprehended the driver and the owner of bolero pick up namely, Anup Yadav and helper Nayan Dev. They were kept at Doomdooma PS. Both the vehicles were taken to Doomdooma PS campus.
