Scribes thrashed for 'blackmailing' in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: Two Talap-based reporters were thrashed for their alleged involvement in extortion and blackmailing before being handed over to Talap OP police under Doomdooma PS in Tinsukia district on Saturday night. More than a hundred people had gheraoed Talap OP demanding the arrest of the two portal reporters.

According to reports, the reporters namely Rahul Roy and Sudeep Das had been blackmailing businessmen and traders of Talap for a long. On Saturday evening the duo engaged in an altercation with few sick strollers on NH and soon several people gathered on the spot and beat them. Though they apologized before the public, a businessman of Talap, Papu Hussain and Talap Traders' Association separately had lodged FIRs at Talap OP demanding legal action against the culprits and cancellation of their press ID cards.
