NAGAON: Like previous years, the Eco Club, NSS unit of the historic Nowgong College (autonomous) in association with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a sensitization programme to make people aware of environment or eco-friendly celebration of Holi festival and urged all to celebrate the upcoming Holi festival with herbal colours especially those prepared with henna, rice powder, carrot, turmeric powder etc.
During the programme as titled ‘Come and celebrate Holi Festival with Natural Colours’, the participants as well as members from Eco Club, NSS unit pledged to celebrate the festival of colours only with natural colours and would keep balance of eco-friendly environment.
The programme was initiated by Dr Bhuban Chandra Chutiya, NSS unit officer and coordinator to internal quality assurance cell while Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of the college delivered the welcome address. Nagaon Municipality Board also extended its support to the sensitization programme and advocated for a green celebration of Holi festival. Over thousands of college students, employees from Nagaon Municipality Board, teaching staff as well as non teaching staff of the college participated in the special programme. Ambika Mazumdar, chairman of Nagaon Municipality Board, inaugurated the programme by sharing herbal colours while deputy chairman of Nagaon Municipality Board, Simanta Bora distributed bamboo made shower pumps among the students. Dr Manash Jyoti Nirmaliya, NSS unit officer concluded the programme with the vote of thanks.
