BOKAKHAT: A powerful storm that struck Bokakhat sub-division on Thursday night caused widespread damage. Around midnight, strong winds led to the destruction of trees and houses. The massive pandal (temporary structure) that was constructed at Gormur, Bokakhat, for the 8th bi-annual session of Golaghat district’s All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), which was scheduled to begin on Friday, was torn down by the storm.
Meanwhile, the power supply has been disrupted since midnight. In Mahuramukh, a tree fell on the private vehicle of a person named Jatin Bora, completely wrecking it.
Almost every village in the sub-division was affected by the storm. National Highway 37 was blocked after trees fell on the road, disrupting transportation.
