Shilpi Sanmanana 2025: Nrityangan pays tribute to Dhubri’s cultural legends

DHUBRI: Shilpi Sanmanana (honouring the artistes) 2025 was organized by a socio-cultural group, Nrityangan, of Dhubri in District Library Auditorium Hall here on Saturday.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting of lamps and paying floral tribute at the portrait of yesteryear’s artists of Dhubri by the President of Nrityangan, Dr Pratima Neogi, who also explained the objective of the Shilpi Sanmanana programme.

Dr Neogi said, “The main objective of this programme was to remember the artists who had laid the foundation of cultural activities in this historic town and recall their contributions, and also to felicitate veteran artistes.

Among the yesteryear’s artists, Late Subash Banerjee,Late Kanchan Kumar Dey, Late Barindra Chandra Bhattacharya, Late Bimala Kanti Bagchi, Late Bijon Chakraborty, Late Arjun Chakraborty, Late Pandit Bihari laal Prasad, Late Gauranga Ghosh, Late Dr Saradindu Banerjee, Late Mintu Paul, Late Nihar Ranjan Paul, Late Pradip Kumar Bose, Late Pranab Sen Sharma, and Late Bhawesh Adhikari were posthumously felicitated. Their family members were present on the occasion.

Among the veteran artistes, Jay Prakash Mazumder, Nirmalendu Sengupta, Samir Dasgupta, Dilip Chakraborty, Nanda Neogi, Erika Ingrid Nandi, Sushmita Adhikari, Tofi Dey Mallik, and Sampa Chaki were felicitated.

Different cultural events were also staged during the felicitation ceremony.

Founder of Nrityangan Dipankar Majumder told The Sentinel that it was a small effort made by the organization to honour the stalwarts of yesteryears in the field of cultural activities posthumously and felicitate the veterans.
