Haflong: Celebrating 25 years of excellence in musical education, Sur Sanga Sangeet Vidyalaya marked its Silver Jubilee with a vibrant cultural evening at the Cultural Institute Hall in Haflong on Sunday. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a holy lamp and floral tributes to a beautifully adorned portrait of Viswakabi Rabindranath Tagore, presented by distinguished guests and the organizers. Students of the Vidyalaya mesmerized the audience with captivating performances of Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya, Kathak, and other classical art forms. The evening was enriched by the presence of eminent personalities, including Samir Mazumder, Bikramjit Choudhury, and Rishikesh Upadhyay, among others.

Addressing the gathering, the guests emphasized the significance of institutions like Sur Sanga Sangeet Vidyalaya, which nurture young talents in disciplines such as Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya, fine arts, Kathak, and classical dance. They expressed their heartfelt wishes for the institution’s continued success and growth. Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, a special segment featured artists from Barak Valley delivering spellbinding performances in Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya, leaving the audience deeply moved. Expressing her immense satisfaction with the students’ performances, Principal M. Dhar Choudhury reflected on the institution’s remarkable journey — from its humble beginnings with only a handful of students to its current strength of over 200 learners, dedicated to preserving and promoting classical and cultural arts.
