SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav chaired a meeting with the high officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at his office chamber on Monday. The meeting was attended by Dr TR Sharma, Joint Director General of North East region, ASI, Dr NK Swain, Superintending Archaeologist of ASI, Guwahati Circle, Assistant Superintendent Archaeological Chemist Sugriva and representatives of various organisations were present.
The meeting discussed the ongoing conservation work at the historic Rang Ghar and Talatal Ghar in Sivasagar district. A number of decisions were taken in the meeting on proper conservation and removal of encroachments in the heritage sites of the district. The Deputy Commissioner briefed everyone about the recent steps taken by the government for the development of tourism in the district and highlighted how heritage sites can play a strong role in this regard.
Senior officials of the Archaeological Survey of India informed the house that they would cooperate and provide all possible assistance. Additional Deputy Commissioner Bitupan Neog highlighted a number of important issues in the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner appealed all to work together and extend their hands for the development of the district.
