GOLAGHAT: In the tea gardens of Golaghat district, tiny students of the tea community are busy with rehearsals of Sattriya dance, folk dance, and modern dance. A visually appealing environment was seen at Golaghat’s Oating tea garden.
The tea garden area is resonating with the charming environment of Assamese art and culture practice. This grand step has been taken by Golaghat’s leading cultural organization Nayannamani Nityanjali Kala Kendra and the Tea Community Language-Literature and Culture development sub-committee of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX). The students took training in Sattriya dance, folk dance, and modern dance and performed on the garden’s stage on Wednesday.
At the concluding ceremony of the workshop, the Tea Labour Union of the garden, senior journalist Diganta Kumar Bhuyan, convener of the Tea Community Language-Literature and Culture development sub-committee of AXX, participated as the chief guest and called for maintaining the continuity of such workshops.
Journalist and litterateur Pallabika Baruah and Nayannamani Sharma, Director of Nayannamani Nityanjali Kala Kendra, managed the programme. Deben Sarma, President of the Kala Kendra, Rituparna Bora, Chief Manager of the tea garden, Mithu Bawri, President of the Tea Labour Union, Bakul Karmakar, Secretary, journalist Chandan Karmakar, artistes Banashree Duwara and Bina Malakar were present as distinguished guests.
Certificates were distributed among the trainees in the programme. It is noteworthy that the Tea Community Language-Literature and Culture development sub-committee of AXX has adopted an extensive programme to create an environment for the practice of Assamese language-literature and culture by forming tea garden branches in the tea garden areas of the state.
