MANGALDAI: The arrest of a Sub Inspector of Police on the charge of outraging the modesty of girl has created sensation here in Darrang district. The arrested accused Police officer is Sub Inspector Nitai Chandra Ray presently posted at Sipajhar Police Station as an attached officer. A team of Police of Kokrajhar on Monday night arrested the accused Police officer from his residential quarter at Sipajhar. He has been arrested in connection with Fakiragram PS case number 50/2023 under section 313/ 354(C)/ 376/ 420 read with section 67 of Information Technology Act. According to information, the victim girl had filed an FIR at Fakiragram Police Station with the serious allegation of outraging her modesty with false assurance to marry her.
