ULFA (I) flags flown in various places of Golaghat district

GOLAGHAT/NUMALIGARH: Sensation spread across the district when flags of the banned ULFA-I were found in two different places in Golaghat district during the outfit’s ‘Pratibad Divas’ (Protest Day) on Thursday. The outfit has been observing November 28 as Protest Day ever since ULFA was declared a banned outfit 21 years ago on this date.

The flags were spotted by locals of the area and they informed the police who immediately removed them. Two flags were found in Golaghat on the road divider of NH-39 at Purabangla under Numaligarh police station and the third one on the road divider of NH-39 at Rangajan under Golaghat police station.

One handwritten poster was also recovered near the two flags at Purabangla. In the primary investigation, Golaghat Police detained two suspects for questioning. One of the suspects belongs to the Bukhial area and runs a computer shop/ internet cafe. Police have identified the suspect as Paplu Konwar alias Asom Konwar. Police also recovered many objectionable items from his possession. Police have identified the second suspect as Dilip Bora of the Bukhial area.
