MIZORAM: The Serchip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 144 cases of foreign-origin liquor worth Rs. 5.43 lakh in the general area of PVCP Zokhawthar-Melbuk Rd., district Champhai, on Friday. They apprehended Zoremsanga (22) hailing from the village of Neihdawn.
The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Custom Preventive Force, Champhai, based on specific information. The seized consignment was handed over to the Customs Preventive Force, Champhai, on Friday for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) recovered 44 hongs (509 gm) of Heroin No. 4 worth Rs. 2.54 crore in the general area of Land Custom Station Zokhawthar, Mizoram, on Thursday. The seized consignment was hidden in a compartment of an unattended refrigrator in the general area of LCS Zokhawthar, and it was further handed over to the Custom Department, Champhai, on Thursday for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
