IMPHAL: The administration of Churachandpur district has relaxed the curfew today, as there is a noticeable improvement in the law and order situation. The curfew relaxation will remain in effect from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, giving citizens some relief during the daytime.

However, the officials have clarified that this relaxation does not apply to the Kangvai, Samulamlan and Sangaikot sub-divisions, where restrictions will continue. The administration has said that any future relaxations will depend on continuous evaluation of the security situation in the region.

The recent unrest started on Tuesday at around 7:30 pm when clashes broke out between different groups. Security forces tried to gain control, but the swift and coordinated nature of the attack made it extremely difficult to keep the situation under control.

In the wake of the situation, the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur has appealed to the public to avoid spreading rumors and to cross-check any information with the concerned authorities. He stressed the need to preserve peace and appealed to the people to cooperate with initiatives that seek to bring about a peaceful resolution to the current tensions.

The government remains on high alert and continues in its efforts to provide security and safety to every resident during the course of the recent disturbances.
