IMPHAL: Tension erupted at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, this morning when a flight was suddenly canceled, leaving a group of students stranded.
The students were scheduled to fly to Guwahati tomorrow to take the Central Agricultural University (CAU) examination.
But with no warning from the airline, they were suddenly left in a state of despair and frustration.
The condition has worsened as jammed roads have provided students with no other feasible means of travel. With few options for transport available, the candidates now have doubts about arriving at their examination center on time.
This last-minute setback has upset their plans, putting additional pressure on an already stressful situation.
Over 500 flights have been canceled today, but the reasons have not yet been confirmed, said flight tracking agency FlightAware. The dramatic jump in cancellations has prompted people to worry and question the airline authorities' preparation and communication levels.
During the chaos, the students are now calling on airline authorities to step in and organize an alternative means of transportation. Most have gone online to complain about their plight, requesting quick intervention.
They emphasize that missing the test as a result of events outside their control would be unjust and have far-reaching implications for their educational and career aspirations.
