Manipur: Thoubal Police Arrest Two Vehicle Lifters, Recover Six Stolen Vehicles

Thoubal police arrested two vehicle lifters, Pussam Azamaluddin and Makakmayum Nawaz Khan, recovering six stolen vehicles. Authorities warn against buying vehicles without proper documentation.

IMPHAL: Thoubal police have apprehended two individuals suspected of vehicle theft in Manipur and recovered a total of six stolen vehicles. The arrests were made public during a media briefing at the Thoubal Superintendent of Police's office on Saturday.

The suspects have been identified as Pussam Azamaluddin, 28, from Lilong Atoukhong, and Makakmayum Nawaz Khan, 23, from Lilong Awang Leikai. Azamaluddin was found in possession of a blue Honda Activa scooter and an orange Honda Dio, while Nawaz Khan was arrested with an orange and white KTM motorcycle and a black and red Bajaj Pulsar NS.

In addition to the vehicles linked to the suspects, police recovered a chrome Royal Enfield motorcycle and a silver Hyundai i20 Asta. During the press conference, SP Dr. S. Ibomcha urged the public to refrain from purchasing vehicles at suspiciously low prices without proper documentation, as these may be stolen and could result in legal repercussions.

The SP noted that the district police heightened vigilance due to a rise in vehicle theft cases. He disclosed that the suspected stolen Hyundai i20 was recovered after its driver left it at Yairipok Singga. Also, the Royal Enfield motorbike was confiscated in Lilong after its rider escaped from the scene.

The two arrested persons, together with the recovered cars, will be taken to the Yairipok and Lilong police stations for further investigation. Authorities are also making efforts to locate and arrest the drivers of the other vehicles involved.
