IMPHAL: Security forces in Manipur's Thoubal District arrested two active members of the proscribed KCP(PWG) outfit on January 23, 2025. The duo, identified as Thokchom Luxmikanta Singh alias Hapu (28) and Dinesh Thokchom alias Don (23), were apprehended while engaging in extortion activities in Uningkhong under Khongjom Police Station.
During the operation, the authorities recovered two 9mm pistols, along with magazines and five live rounds of ammunition. Additionally, three mobile handsets, Rs. 10,000 in cash, and a four-wheeler vehicle were seized from their possession.
The arrests mark a significant development in curbing the activities of the banned group in the region.
In another operation, Manipur Police detained 15 people, including eight women and seven men, during an anti-drug operation in the North AOC area on January 22. The operation was based on reliable information, but no illegal items were found.
The detainees, suspected to be drug users and peddlers, were sent to rehabilitation centers for treatment, showing the state’s focus on helping people along with enforcing the law.
At the same time, security forces continued their routine patrols and search operations across vulnerable areas in the hills and valleys. They also ensured the safe transport of essential goods on National Highways 2 and 37, escorting 304 and 233 vehicles under convoy protection.
