Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Secretary DP Wahlang on Friday informed that the Ministry of Education is scrutinizing the report submitted by the two-member inquiry committee investigating allegations of mismanagement and administrative failures against the incumbent Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). He stated that the Centre would first assess the findings before sharing relevant details with the state for further action.

"The report of the two-member committee has already been submitted to the ministry. We are not privy to the report till now. We don't know what is in it, but it has been submitted to the Ministry of Education," Wahlang said.

He further disclosed that key discussions had taken place at the central level. "I had a meeting with the Secretary of Higher Education. I also met the Additional Secretary in charge of central universities. We had a long, fruitful discussion. The report is being scrutinized at the Ministry level. They will 'sift out' what needs to be shared with us, and thereafter, we will take it forward from there," he added.
