Do not litter while visiting Lum Kyllang, warns Dorbar Shnong

The Dorbar Shnong of Mawsmai Kyllang has issued a stern warning to both locals and tourists coming form outside the State not to litter while visiting Lum Kyllang in the days to come and during New Year.

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Mawsmai Kyllang has issued a stern warning to both locals and tourists coming form outside the State not to litter while visiting Lum Kyllang in the days to come and during New Year. The dorbar has also issued a notice banning the setting up of small shops by locals for the time being.

"People when they come, they litter all around. You can see broken bottles, leftover food, plastic bags and bottles, chips packets etc. Hence, cooking will not be allowed," HL Mawnai, Sordar of Mawsmai Kyllang Nongkhlaw Syiemship, told reporters here on Tuesday.

He also said that especially during the first two days of the New Year and Republic Day, thousands of tourists throng the place and leave behind waste materials.

"If people visiting Lum Kyllang want to cook their food they can do so at a place provided by the dorbar," he said.

Mawnai also urged the public to follow the directive and guidelines set by the Dorbar Shnong.
