Meghalaya: 1.01 Kilograms of Crystal Meth Worth ₹1.5 Crores Seized

SHILLONG: In a significant operation carried out by the East Jaintia Hills Police in Meghalaya, a notorious interstate drug smuggler was apprehended, and a substantial quantity of crystal meth, valued in crores, was seized. The Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, praised the successful operation as a testament to the state's unwavering commitment to combat drug mafias and keep their influence at bay.

The operation, which unfolded in the early hours of a Tuesday, was executed by the East Jaintia Hills Police in collaboration with its Anti-Narcotics Task Force. The targeted location for the operation was Nongsning village, and it proved to be a pivotal moment in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.

During the operation, law enforcement officials arrested an interstate drug trafficker while confiscating a significant quantity of crystal meth from his possession. The seized crystal meth weighed approximately 1.01 kilograms and was estimated to have a street value exceeding Rs 1.5 crores, as reported by the Meghalaya Chief Minister.

Conrad Sangma took to social media to extend his appreciation to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Meghalaya, LR Bishnoi, emphasizing the state's resolute stance against drug mafias and their enduring determination to prevent them from establishing a foothold in the state.

The Chief Minister's social media post read, "Our unyielding resolve against drug mafias underscores our commitment to keeping our state free from their influence!" He continued, "In the early hours today, @EJHPolice & its ANTF displayed exemplary courage during an operation at Nongsning village and arrested a notorious interstate drug trafficker along with 1.01 Kg of Crystal Meth worth more than ₹1.5 Crores. Police is diligently working to hunt for backward and forward linkages."

He concluded his message with a salute to @lrbishnoiips and his dedicated team, affirming the government's unwavering dedication to continue the crusade against narco-traffickers, ensuring that Meghalaya remains a place free from the grip of drug-related crimes. #DrugsFreeMeghalaya
