SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the launch of the ‘Mobius Young Climate Leaders’ project in Meghalaya on Tuesday, apart from six other northeastern states. The initiative, launched by the North East Leaders Connect (NELC), aims to impart education, economics, and environmental sustainability in alignment with the Tawang Declaration.

“This project will provide a platform for young leaders to develop their skills and knowledge in sustainability and to work together to address the pressing environmental and economic challenges facing our region,” said Sangma in his address while announcing the launch of the project as a year-end gift to the people of Meghalaya.

The project aims to promote sustainable development and drive economic growth in the North East. It is run by North East Leaders Connect (NELC) in collaboration with the Möbius Foundation and the University of Cambridge.

Taking to his official X handle, the Meghalaya chief minister stated, "North East Leaders Connect is happy to launch the ‘Mobius Young Climate Leaders’ project in 7 northeastern states of India for education and economic & environmental sustainability in alignment with the Tawang Declaration."

Launched in 2011 in Kohima, North East Leader Connect (NELC), earlier known as Young Leaders Connect, is a common platform for young leaders and achievers from the Northeast.
