SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government is taking significant steps to implement a ban on single-use plastic in the state. Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh highlighted that the state’s focus on promoting a “Green” theme was reinforced in a recent cabinet meeting, where measures to enforce the ban were discussed.
“We are promoting the ‘Green’ theme. In the last cabinet, we also discussed about the ban on single-use plastic and how do we ensure that we are able to enforce the ban,” Lyngdoh said. It is worth noting that the Meghalaya High Court has already imposed a ban on single-use plastic in temples and shops across the state.
