SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded 21 Covid deaths, 1123 new infections and 509 new recoveries.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the total number of fatalities has gone up to 435, total active cases have mounted to 7454 and 20989 have recovered from the virus.
Of the 21 new deaths 19 are from East Khasi Hills and two are from West Jaintia Hills.
Of the 1123 new cases East Khasi Hills recorded 542, Ri-Bhoi 277, West Garo Hills 76, West Jaintia Hills 60, South Garo Hills 49, South West Garo Hills 29, North Garo Hills 26, East Jaintia Hills 21, South West Khasi Hills 20, West Khasi Hills 12 and East Garo Hills 11.
East Khasi Hills has the most number of fatalities with 358, West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills 23 each, Ri-Bhoi nine, East Jaintia Hills and North Garo Hills five each, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills three each, East Garo Hills two and South West Khasi Hills one.
The total number of persons tested for the virus till date is 5,32,756 out of which 5,03,878 tested negative. The total number of confirmed cases is 28878.
