"The centre intends to make maximum use of modern science and technology to come up with a workable solution to the age-old problem of floods in the Northeast," said the Union Minister.

Highlighting the schemes of the Jal Shakti Ministry to provide clean water to every household, Minister Shekhawat also spoke on the role of PM Modi led government at the centre to accelerate development in the Northeast.

Shekhawat said the Union Jal Shakti Ministry is taking adequate measures that too on a 'large scale' for reliving the people of the region from the menace of floods.

On the sidelines of the event, the Union Jal Shakti Minister also attended a review meeting on the implementation of several developmental schemes of the Central Government in Meghalaya. He appreciated the efforts of CM Conrad Sangma led Government in installing tap water connections in the state. Notably, tap water connections have been installed in as many as 2.6 lakh households in the state. Minister Shekhawat expressed optimism that the installation in the remaining households will soon be completed soon.
