NCW chief reviews Meghalaya’s women safety measures

NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar held a high-level meeting with Meghalaya Police to assess measures against crimes targeting women.

SHILLONG: The Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Vijaya Rahatkar, on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting with senior Meghalaya Police officials to assess the state’s efforts in combating crimes against women.

Rahatkar stressed the need to strengthen Women Help Desks in 70 police stations across the state and to establish Anti-Human Trafficking Units in every district. The meeting also evaluated strategies to improve cybercrime response through NCCRP integration and to enhance gender sensitization and legal support systems.

“We are dedicated to working together to ensure a safer Meghalaya for all women,” Rahatkar said, reaffirming the NCW’s commitment to protecting women’s rights and safety.
