Power Overhaul by 2035: Meghalaya Crafts Adhesive Plan for Sector Reform

SHILLONG: Meghalaya is crafting a comprehensive adhesive plan to transform its power sector by 2035, with a roadmap that focuses on system upgrades, manpower, and operational efficiency. Power Minister A.T. Mondal on Tuesday highlighted the state’s unique growth trajectory, stating that while progress is steady, Meghalaya’s development path differs from that of other states.

“As per power scenario in the state is concern, we are growing in a steady way, though our growth is little bit different than other states,” Mondal said.

The minister elaborated that the state’s long-term blueprint involves close coordination with the Ministry of Power and regular flagging of key issues needing central support. “We are planning our adhesive plan for 2035, that when we reach 2035 how should be our power scenario and we are in constant touch with Ministry of power and we are flagging the issues, which can be helped by the Ministry of power,” he said.

Mondal added that the roadmap will take into account “our power scenario in terms of our of our all Manpower and everything, including our system upgradation... by taking everybody into confidence we are working on it.”
