Shillong: In a key development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, a local court in Shillong on Wednesday remanded one of the accused, Silome James, to 14 days of judicial custody, while co-accused Balbir Ahirbar alias Ballu and Lokendra Singh Tomar have been sent to judicial custody for 7 days.
“The accused Silome James, Balbir Ahirbar alias Ballu and Lokendra Singh Tomar they were produced before the court today after their six days of police custody was over, so the IO has prayed for 14 days Judicial custody, after hearing at length by the procecusion side I appeared and from legal aid Advocate Sudip Rana appeared, so after hearing at length, the court has remanded Silome James 14 days of Judicial custody, and other two accused that is Balbir Ahirbar alias Ballu and Lokendra Singh Tomar for seven days Judicial custody,” said Assistant Public Prosecutor Tushar Chanda. The trio was produced in court following the end of their six-day police custody, which had earlier been granted by the court on Thursday. Silome James, identified as a property dealer, was arrested for his alleged involvement in destroying and concealing crucial evidence — including a pistol, ammunition, and cash — reportedly taken from a bag belonging to co-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Balbir Ahirbar, known as “Ballu”, worked as a security guard and is suspected to have key information about the movements of the accused at the Indore flat where Sonam had taken shelter after fleeing Meghalaya following the murder in Sohra on May 23. The third co-accused, Lokendra Singh Tomar, the landlord of the Indore flat, was arrested from Gwalior and brought to Shillong for further investigation.
