SHILLONG: Residents of Shillong can breathe a huge sigh of relief, as the government has guaranteed a steady power supply throughout the upcoming Christmas season.

AT Mondal, the Minister in charge of Power, assured that the state is fully prepared to ensure a continuous power supply, particularly during the ongoing examination period for students.

The government has implemented measures to prevent any disruptions in power services. While the minister acknowledged that power outages could happen due to unforeseen events like transformer failures, he assured the public that any such incidents would be swiftly resolved.

To guarantee an uninterrupted power supply during the festive and exam periods, the government has reserved buffer power stocks.

Citizens have been urged to use electricity responsibly and avoid overloading the system to prevent potential issues. The government remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply, except in cases of natural causes or equipment failure.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan has said that ensuring the supply of 24-hour electricity in the state was the top priority of the state government. Phukan said this after taking charge of the power ministry on Tuesday.

Before assuming the charge, he took the blessings of Goddess Kamakhya atop Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.

“Assam has been progressing rapidly under the able leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The power department has taken multiple steps in the last few years to ensure good electricity connectivity across the state. I will give my best to carry forward the work done by the department along with searching for new avenues,” the minister told reporters.
