AIZAWL: In an unprecedented success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered methamphetamine tablets weighing 57.91 kg worth Rs 173.73 crore from General Area Crossing Point 1, Vokte Kai, Zokhawthar, Champhai district.
Based on specific intelligence about the movement of narcotics, Assam Rifles, along with Zokhawthar Police, established an ambush in the general area of crossing point 1, Vokte Kai.
The joint team spotted a move of suspected individuals carrying an illegal consignment and intercepted them. The suspects got alert and ran away leaving the consignment behind. The entire consignment has been seized by the Police Department, Zokhawthar, for further investigation and legal proceedings, stated a press release.
