Mizoram CM Lalduhoma to Present State Budget for 2025-26 on March 4

Mizoram CM Lalduhoma is set to present the state's annual budget for the 2025-2026 financial year in the assembly on March 4 and the budget session of the Mizoram Assembly will begin on February 19.

AIZAWL: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma is set to present the state's annual budget for the 2025-2026 financial year in the assembly on March 4, according to a senior official. The budget session of the Mizoram Assembly will begin on February 19.

Vanlalthantlingi, the commissioner and secretary of the Mizoram Assembly, informed the media that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), led by Speaker Lalbiakzama, met on Wednesday to finalize the schedule for the session. It was decided that the session will run until March 20.

On the first day of the session, Governor Gen Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) will give his inaugural address. Lalduhoma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present the annual budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on March 4. This will be the second budget presented by Lalduhoma after the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) assumed power in December 2023.

Meanwhile, the Budget Session of the Indian Parliament started today with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Following her speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey for 2024-25, which evaluates the country's economic performance and outlines challenges and recommendations for growth.

The government plans to discuss 16 key bills, including the Waqf, Banking Laws, Railways, and Disaster Management bills. Sitharaman will present the first full Budget of the Modi 3.0 government on February 3. The first part of the session will end on February 13, with a break before reconvening on March 10.
