Nagaland: Insurgent Recruiter Arrested After Five-Month Manhunt

Raju Chakma, an insurgent recruiter, was arrested in Nagaland after a five-month search. Police recovered an AK-47 and ammunition, expecting vital information on militant activities.

PEREN: The Changlang district police finally arrested Raju Chakma, who is allegedly an insurgent recruiter, in the Jalukie area of Nagaland's Peren district after an exciting five-month long search. During the operation, the Nagaland Police and 9 Assam Rifles assisted them.

Chakma, a resident of Bijoypur-III under the Bordumsa police station in Changlang district, was arrested following a formal complaint regarding his involvement in subversive activities. A criminal case was registered against him under Section 113 (4) of the BNS on August 7, 2024.

It was during the investigation that it was revealed that Chakma had been staying under a false identity as he was using the name 'Ngulkogin Singson' for several months while staying in Nagaland. He is accused of luring and recruiting many youths into a banned militant organization and is also wanted for his involvement in various other serious criminal offenses.

The police had also seized a number of evidence when Chakma was arrested. This includes one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 45 live rounds of ammunition, and two mobile phones. Chakma, according to authorities, was going to give key information regarding the subversive activities of these insurgent groups in the region that could prove useful in further investigations and operations against such outfits.
