GANGTOK: Chief Minister PS Golay on Friday engaged with several key investors and officials at his official residence to discuss transformative initiatives aimed at propelling Sikkim’s growth across multiple sectors.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with a delegation of Tata Steel’s subsidiary JUSCO Limited to discuss collaborations with the Gangtok Municipal Corporation for delivering world-class municipal services. This partnership envisions elevating urban infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for Sikkim’s residents, it was informed.
Similarly, discussions with the Shriram Ozone Group, known for iconic properties like Westin, Taj Vivanta, and Marriott, centered on promoting high-end tourism in Sikkim. "We explored possibilities for luxury wedding venues, corporate event destinations, and premium tourism experiences to create employment opportunities and drive revenue generation," shared the Chief Minister.
With the Ambuja Neotia Group, discussions revolved around expanding the Taj Guras Kutir brand across Sikkim, reinforcing the state’s reputation as a luxury hospitality hub.
Similarly, a productive meeting with Dr. Balwinder Bajwa from EFRAC/QIMA focused on empowering local farmers through value addition initiatives and enhancing Sikkim’s capabilities in water, food, and medicine quality testing to meet global standards.
The meetings were attended by Gangtok Mayor NB Chettri, Deputy Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia, Chief Administrator VB Pathak, Chief Secretary R Telang, CMO Principal Secretary Dr. SD Dhakal, and OSD Sunil Saraogi, whose insights and support were invaluable in steering these initiatives.
