GANGTOK: Raju Basnett, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Education, Law and Parliamentary Affairs departments, Government of Sikkim, along with Yangchen D. Tamang, secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs, and the officers of the department, called on Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay at his official residence, Mintokgang, on 10th March.
Raju Basnett and the team of officers extended an invitation and requested the Chief Minister for his esteemed presence in the upcoming 8th North East Youth Festival, 2025, to be held from 17th to 20th March, 2025.
The opening and closing ceremony of the prestigious North East Festival will be held at Paljor Stadium, while the various competitive and non-competitive events will be held at MG Marg, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, and Chintan Bhawan.
During the courtesy visit, various issues related to sports and youth development activities and infrastructure development were discussed.
Yangchen D. Tamang highlighted the major activities initiated by the department under the direction of CM Tamang. She also updated about the upcoming activities of the department for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Sikkim's Statehood based on “Sunaulo, Samariddha Ani Samarth Sikkim.”
Milan Pradhan, chief engineer; R. B. Biswakarma, additional director; Palior Lepcha, deputy director; Karma D. Bhutia, deputy director; and S. B. Subba, deputy director, SYDB, joined the courtesy meeting with the chief minister.
