GANGTOK: It has now been over four decades since 149 families were displaced by the Army's land acquisition process in Bhusuk during 1978-79. Now, these families have met with the Secretary to the Land Revenue Department seeking redress for unspent compensation leave.

Accompanied by Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, MLA of the 23 Syari Constituency, the families urged the authorities to address their longstanding concerns. The meeting marked an important step toward solving a problem that has been pending for decades.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has extended support to the affected families. He directed the concerned departments to speed up the process, considering the urgency of the issue. His intervention has given new hope to those affected by the delay for such a long time.

The families have expressed their thanks to the Chief Minister's proactive approach. "This is a step forward to ensure justice for the dislodged families. This will be through the guidance of the Chief Minister and the work of the Land Revenue Department," MLA Tenzing Norbu Lamtha pointed out while emphasizing the necessity of collective action in redressing this historical grievance.

As the government takes concrete steps toward resolving the issue, these families could finally look toward closure of such a decades-old injustice.
