SINGTAM: A 36-year-old woman going by the name of Amrita Kami was discovered dead on December 11 under suspicious circumstances in a tragic incident in Tinek, Singtam. After an inquiry that found evidence of foul play, her husband, Ratan Bahadur Kami, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
Bikash Baraily, a relative of Amrita, reported her death to the Singtam Police Station. At around 7:00 AM, Baraily said, he was notified of Amrita's condition. Her lifeless body was lying on the bed when he arrived at her house, with bluish lines clearly visible around her eyes. Her death was initially questioned because it was stated that she had fallen close to the cowshed the day before.
Nevertheless, a distressing history of physical and psychological abuse in the couple's relationship was discovered during an inquest held at the scene and subsequent investigation.
Amrita died from suffocation brought on by occlusion of the neck vessels, which was further complicated by shock and bleeding from blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy conducted by Dr. Uma Adhikari at District Hospital Singtam on December 12. Her body had 19 injuries, according to the autopsy, which strengthened the suspicion of foul play.
In light of these conclusions, Singtam Police filed a murder charge against 38-year-old Ratan Bahadur Kami. He is still undergoing investigation after being placed under arrest. Officials have stated that the case is still pending and that they are collecting additional evidence.
